Maze

Author: Elisa Clark

Devotion:

How we know Jesus is with our Kids

even if they are not looking at Him at the moment.

I am going to use the metaphor of the maze.

It is as if they are in a maze but within God’s loving arms.

They are at the entrance, and Jesus is both at the end and alongside them.

He says follow my voice to find me.

They say okay, but I am going to go that way first.

He lets them. However, he does not leave.

He stays and calls out to them and says follow my voice.

Sometimes, the twists and turns they take go in the opposite direction of God.

Sometimes, they get so boxed in that they cannot hear God’s voice anymore.

That does not mean he is not there, calling out to them.

He knows they are going to struggle within the maze,

He waits patiently and continues to call for them.

In those times when God seems far from us, He is not.

Moses reminds us, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you: He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deut 31:8 NLT)

Prayer: Restore and renew my child’s desire to follow your call when you call out their names. In your name we pray, amen.
